Description
Ferrosilicon 65 (FeSi 65) is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon with approximately 65% silicon content. It is produced by smelting a mixture of iron ore, coke, and silica in a blast furnace, then adding the resultant molten material to a steelmaking furnace.
Ferrosilicon 65 (FeSi 65) is commonly used as a deoxidizer and inoculant in the production of steel and other metals. It is also used in the manufacturing of various alloys, such as aluminum-silicon alloys, magnesium alloys, and nickel-based superalloys.
The addition of FeSi 65 to steel results in improved mechanical properties, such as increased tensile strength and hardness. It also helps to prevent the formation of porosity and other defects in the steel. In aluminum-silicon alloys, FeSi 65 improves the casting properties and mechanical strength of the alloy.
